"I see a girl caught in the remains of a holiday gone bad, with her flesh picked off day after day as the carcass dries out".  Mr Freeman was talking about her art project but you can say that this sums up the book so far.   How does this repersent the story so far

expected vs. unexpected

In class we talked about expected and unexpected behavior.  Unexpected behaviors can directly lead to some very serious storming from your groups.  What are some odd behaviors that you have you think might turn people off or what is something you have done that you see now as beening an unexpected behavior?   

Humor

Do you get the joke?  During your reading Melinda cracks several jokes.  Find something in the first 60 pages you find funny.  Tell me why you think it is funny?  How does humor fit into your discussion on groups? 

Homecoming

During homecoming every year the school has issues with pranks committed by students.  In the race for the spirit cup the older students have done some pretty bad things to the younger students.  Why do you think we continue to have homecoming games?  Why does the school divides you into classes when it seems to only lead to trouble?  What does homecoming have to do with groups?

In the story, Melinda hs lost connection ot her groups.  It is if she has done something unexpected.  What do you think this thing is?  She seems odd,  what have you read that makes her seem odd?  What do you think about this character?  How would you describe her?
